What are types of branding suitable on products for brand promotion and corporate gifting?

We always get question from our clients that, What are types of branding? and which branding is suitable on what product? What will be cost of different type of branding?. Most of the times in the startups or even in very well-established companies, young freshers join the marketing/brand building team and they are not aware of the types of branding which can be done on the products they have shortlisted for brand promotion. These marketing products are extremely common in modern society, providing brands with an opportunity to gain valuable impressions at a relatively reasonable cost.

In this blog we are trying to help our clients and other people to educate on different type of branding.

1.Laser Engraving

Laser engraving is one of the permanent kinds of fully machine-based branding type which can be used on the material like Metallic, Wooden, Leather and acrylic based products. Clients need to provide the open file of the logo/artwork which we can directly give as an input to the machine

In this process the products are exposed to the laser machine and the machine takes the logo file as an Input. Once the command is given, the laser beam starts removing the very top layer of the material, thus creating desired visible marks on the treated surface. Depending on the materials, the laser-material interactions can be different. Cost can vary from Rs.10-Rs.50/impression depending on the artwork complexity.

Advantages:

  • Faster, time saving
  • Neat and Clean
  • Permanent
  • Cost Effective

Disadvantages:

  • No colorful branding
  • Useful for only certain kind of material surfaces
  • For very hard layered materials results are not impactful
  • Very big size products cannot be engraved
  • Not possible on the curved surface

Products can be engraved:

  • Metallic Sippers, Metallic Bottles
  • Metallic trophies/Plaques, Metallic name plates
  • Wooden trophies, wooden Key Chains
  • Leather wallets/Bags
  • Acrylic Trophies
  • Metallic Pen

2.UV Printing

UV printing is one of the most used branding types as this can print colorful artworks unlike laser engraving. UV digital printing speeds up the print production process by instantly curing specially formulated UV inks on a vast range of materials using UV lamps. UV cured inks are weather-resistant and offer increased resistance to fading.

UV printing is being used on the material like metallic products, Wooden plaques, acrylics, Plastic products, PVC products Canvas, Bamboo, Leather materials. Cost of the branding is higher as compared to laser engraving.

Advantages:

  • Multi Color Print Possible

Screen printing is the process of transferring a stenciled design onto a flat surface using a mesh screen, ink and a squeegee. Fabric and paper are the most commonly screen-printed surfaces, but with specialized inks it’s also possible to print onto wood, metal, plastic, and even glass. The basic method involves creating a stencil on a fine mesh screen, and then pushing ink (or paint, in the case of artwork and posters) through to create an imprint your design on the surface beneath. Cost for this printing might vary form Rs.5-Rs.50 depending on the size of the artwork with MOQ 100 pcs.

Advantages:

  • Cost Effective
  • Fast and Time Saving
  • Can be printed on all the surfaces.

Disadvantages:

  • Requires Initial set up(stenciling)
  • Very big size products cannot be printed
  • Not possible on the curved surface
  • Multi color artwork print is not possible
  • Manual process, hence chances of errors.

4.Heat transfer Printing (Sublimation & Rubberize/transfer)

Heat transfer printing is the name given to any kind of printing that uses heat to bind a design to a fabric. The design is printed out onto a material coated with heat-reactive adhesive, called transfer or sublimation paper. When a heat press is applied to the transfer paper, the adhesive reacts to the heat and sticks to the surface of the fabric beneath, creating a printed textile. Cost of the printing might vary form Rs.10-50/pc depending on the quantity and artwork size.

Sublimation printing is limited for white/light color Polyester fabrics (for T shirts) and on the sublimation coated mugs (for coffee mugs).

With digital heat transfer printing, a design is created using computer software and printed onto white transfer paper. The design is then cut out using a machine called a plotter, which follows a digital outline to get accurate results. The finished transfer is placed on the desired spot on the garment or accessory, and is then heat-treated to bind it to the fabric.
